FX Maverick FULL REVIEW by Baker Airguns!
A few months back, way before the new FX Maverick was announced, I was introduced to one of the prototypes. As soon as I held the gun I thought to myself, “Man! This thing is really awesome!” Having first hand experience with most high end airguns, only the finest will really….take my breath away. The Maverick did just that. It’s kind of an amalgamation of an Impact and a Wildcat. “What will this mean to my beloved Impact?”, I wondered. “Have I….lost that loving feeling…for my Impact?” As far as I could tell, I was on the….highway to the danger zone. But alas, the new Maverick is it’s own gun altogether. It replaces neither the Impact or the Wildcat. All three of the guns have their own unique attributes, and there is room in any collection for all three. The link below is to the full review video that accompanies this written report. As I said above, the Maverick has attributes of both the Wildcat and the Impact….but it’s definitely it’s own gun. It has and extremely large 89cc plenum, and is designed to shoot heavy pellets and slugs. It has not one, but two AMP regulators that work in tandem. FX says that this will result in a more consistent working pressure. There is also a slug power kit that will soon be available for the gun, which will really wring the most power possible out of the gun. All Maverick’s ship with the Smooth Twist X Superior Standard liner that works well with pellets, FX Hybrid Slugs, and other lighter slugs.
There are three versions of the new Maverick. There’s the Sniper that sports a 700mm barrel and a 580cc carbon fiber bottle, a Compact with a 500mm barrel and a 300cc carbon fiber bottle, and a VP version with a 600mm barrel and a 400cc aluminum bottle. While the Maverick has it’s own chassis…you’ll find the familiar Impact style buttpad, AR-15 pistol grip, and picatinny rails on all four sides of the gun. From the Wildcat…you’ll find the MkIII hammer adjustment system, breech, standard Side Shot magazine, trigger system, and Smooth Twist X barrel system. While the safety is in the same place as the Wildcat, it’s now a switch instead of the wire lever. All versions of the Maverick have 20MOA built right into the scope rail, and are available with or without the DonnyFL moderator.
My test gun for the review, the Sniper 25 version with DonnyFL moderator and Element Titan scope
The gun I used for my review is the .25 caliber Sniper version with the DonnyFL moderator. While you can obviously tame the gun down with tuning, what I wanted to know was how powerful could I make it in stock form? Therefore, I maxed out the hammer spring adjuster and adjusted the second regulator to 150BAR and the first regulator to about 180BAR. A thirty to thirty-five bar difference between the two regulators is what FX recommends for the best performance. There is a great FX Masterclass video with Ernest Rowe showing you the correct procedure to adjust the regulators. It’s very simple, and I suggest watching it if you have a Maverick. Keep in mind, FX lists the maximum power output of the guns as tested with the slug power kit installed. The guns do not ship with this kit installed and it must be purchased separately. Having said that…I easily achieved about a 940fps average with the FX 33.9gr pellets, producing about 65fpe using the tune listed above. That’s some serious “How do you do?” from a .25 caliber airgun. What is even more astonishing, is that I got over 90 shots per fill at that tune. That’s right, over 90 shots!
Of course, all that power is worthless if the gun isn’t accurate….so just how accurate is the new Maverick? I used both the FX 33.9gr pellets and the 26gr Hybrid slugs to test the accuracy of the gun at 100yds. As expected, the pellets were the more accurate of the two projectiles. As you can see in the two photos below, I got less than a 1″ five shot group with the pellets. After zeroing, it was my first group of the day. I stopped shooting the pellets right after that because why continue? That’s pretty damn accurate! I then rezeroed the gun for the Hybrid slugs. The next, and best, five shot group I shot with the Hybrids was just about 1.5″. Again, that’s pretty good. The Maverick is capable of some serious accuracy, just as you’d expect from any FX product.

Part of the reason this gun is so accurate is because it’s very easy to shoot. Not only does it have some great ergonomics, but it also has a top quality FX trigger. As I understand, it’s the exact same trigger and linkage that is used on the Wildcat MkIII. Bone stock, right out of the box without any adjustment…the trigger was a wonderful two stage pull with a solid wall and a light, crisp break of less than a pound. FX produces some of the best bullpup style triggers on the market, and the Maverick certainly has one.
As with any FX product, there is already great demand for this gun. We’ve got some of them in stock right now here at Baker Airguns, and have more on the way. Do yourself a favor and check one of these guns out ASAP….as they’re sure to sell out quickly. Also, I’m very sorry for all of the cheesy Top Gun references….but how could I not? It’s the Maverick! Oh, and though I couldn’t find an appropriate place to use this one….I’d just like to say…..because I was inverted.

The FX Maverick is a all-new platform for FX Airguns. A rifle purpose built from
the ground up with heavier pellet and slug shooting in mind. The Maverick features
the largest power plenum yet on any FX rifle with the latest FX modernization, dual

The Dual FX AMP Regulators is scintillating in its concept and execution. The first
regulator pre-reduces the pressure in preparation for the second regulator. This
provides less stress on the second regulator and achieves a more constant output
pressure with less standard deviations. Both AMP Regulators can be adjusted

The Dual Regulators work in tandem with the large 89cc Power Plenum. This large
plenum, paired proportionately with the correct porting and valving, allows for a
more consistent working pressure to be delivered.
FX Maverick owners also have the option of picking up the FX Maverick Slug Power
Kit. This kit includes a heavier hammer and slug pin probes that allow for even more
power and velocities for heavier projectiles.
The Maverick utilizes the same rear power adjuster that was first introduced with
the FX Wildcat MKIII. This breakthrough hammer adjuster allows for both micro and
macro adjustments using the same dial which allows the Maverick to be fully adjusted in harmony with the Dual AMP Regulators for the chosen caliber and projectile.
Like all modern FX Airguns, the Maverick utilizes the world class Smooth Twist X
(STX) Interchangeable Barrel & Liner System. All FX Mavericks ship with Superior
STX Standard liners perfect for shooting pellets, hybrid slugs and lighter weight
slugs. Additional liners are available to tailor to different projectiles.
The Maverick has a more tactical body which will allow for aftermarket components
to be added for further customization. The rifle is a bottle gun with different configurations of the rifle coming with different sized bottles. This rifle comes in three
configurations: The Compact comes with a 300cc carbon fiber bottle, The Sniper
with a 580cc carbon fiber bottle, and The VP (Value Priced) paired with a 400cc
aluminum bottle. All Mavericks have 20 MOA built into the picatinny scope rail,
multiple picatinny accessory rails, standard AR grips and feature the newly
designed rear FX buttpad.

대체 불가능이란 말은 교환할 수 없다는 것을 의미합니다. 다른 것으로 대신할 수 없고 대용할 수가 없습니다.

NFT (대체 불가능한 토큰)는 ‘디지털 저장소' 속에 있는 희소한 것입니다. 하지만 디지털 매체의 모든 것들이 복사와 붙여넣기가 쉽게 이루어집니다. 그렇다면 어떻게 토큰을 희소하다고 말할 수 있을까요? 토큰도 디지털 매체이고 쉽게 복사될 수도 있습니다. 하지만, 그것은 문제되지 않습니다.
왜냐하면 NFT는 블록체인 속에 저장되어 있기 때문이죠. 블록체인 기술은 복사본으로부터 원본을 쉽게 구별할 수 있게 합니다.
원작은 유일무이하지만 원작과 복사본(원작과 모작을)을 구별하기란 매우 어려운 일입니다. 그런데 NFT를 적용한다면 원작을 쉽게 복사할 수 있고 복사본으로부터 원작을 구분하는 일은 마치 마법과도 같이 쉬워집니다.
그래서 NFT는 무엇인가?
다시 말해서 NFT란 디지털로 되어 있어 복사될 수 있지만 누구나 원본인지 아닌지를 구별할 수 있기에 문제될 것이 전혀 없는 희소성을 갖고 있는 어떤 것입니다.
디지털 아트에서 NFT는 디지털 작품을 의미합니다. 마치 회화 작품처럼 말이죠. 하지만 NFT는 훨씬 매력적입니다. 왜냐하면 모든 사람들이 원작을 쉽게 구분할 수 있기 때문입니다.
NFT는 투명합니다. 그 누구도 “이거 원본이야?”라고 묻지 않습니다. 다들 “무엇을 창작하세요?’라고 물어보죠.

NFT가 도대체 뭐야?
NFT는 ‘non-fungible token’의 약자로, ‘대체불가토큰’ 혹은 ‘대체불가능토큰’으로 번역된다.
대체가능(fungible)한 토큰들은 각기 동일한 가치와 기능을 가진다. 서로 교환이 가능하며, 동일 단위의 1:1 교환이 발생할 경우 사실상 교환이 발생하지 않았던 것과 다름이 없다. 명목화폐, 비트코인·이더 등의 통상적 암호화폐, 귀금속, 채권 등이 이에 해당된다.
반면 대체불가능(non-fungible)한 토큰들은 각기 고유성을 지닌다. 발권자, 비행편, 좌석위치 등이 전부 특정되어 있으므로 동일품이 아예 존재할 수 없는 항공권과 비슷하다. NFT는 암호화된 거래내역을 블록체인에 영구적으로 남김으로써 고유성을 보장받는다. 특정 개인이나 기관으로부터 임의의 인증을 받음으로써 고유성을 보장받는 전통 방식과 다르다. 아무나 복제할 수 있는 ‘디지털 파일’에 대해서도 ‘고유 소유권’을 발행하는 데에 사용될 수 있는 기술이라는 점이 주목을 받았다.
NFT 발행에 현재 가장 널리 사용되는 블록체인 플랫폼은 이더리움이다. 이더리움과 같은 개방형 블록체인을 통해 NFT를 발행하면 고유성이 탈중앙적으로 보장된다는 의의도 추가된다. 물론 폐쇄형(허가형) 블록체인을 Maverick FX는 무엇인가 통해 발행된 NFT들도 존재한다.
한편, 대체가능성은 추적가능성(traceability)이나 가분성(divisibility)과는 구분된다.
- 추적가능성: 모든 NFT는 추적가능하지만, 추적가능한 모든 토큰이 NFT가 되는 것은 아니다. 특정 지폐의 유통경로를 알 수 있다고 해서 명목화폐가 NFT로 기능하진 않는다. 2001년 포트워스에서 발행된 1달러와 2021년 워싱턴DC에서 발행된 1달러는 동일한 1달러다.
- 가분성: NFT가 처음 개발될 당시에는 토큰을 분할할 수 없었으나 (항공권을 반으로 찢어 둘로 나눌 수 없듯이), 분할소유를 Maverick FX는 무엇인가 가능케 하는 NFT 모델들이 시장의 수요에 따라 빠르게 출시되었다. 따라서 불가분성을 NFT의 특징으로 보기는 힘들어졌다.

NFT에 대한 우려들
- 투기 광풍: 신규 투기·투자의 장이 열림에 따라 쏟아져 들어오는 ‘눈 먼 돈’의 비중이 적지 않다는 비판이 있다. NFT의 잠재력에 대해서 “아주 큰 기대”를 품고 있는 비플마저 지금 당장의 시장 상황은 ‘버블’이라 생각한다고 밝혔다.
- 환경문제: NFT의 발행·유통으로 인해 발생하는 PoW(proof-of-work) 기반 블록체인 활동의 전력 소비가 지나치다는 보고가 이어지고 있고, 이에 따라 NFT 작품의 판매를 취소하거나 보류하는 아티스트들이 늘어나고 있다. 전력소비량이 훨씬 낮은 PoS(proof-of-stake) 기반의 블록체인들이 없는 것은 아니나, 이더리움을 비롯한 대부분의 Maverick FX는 무엇인가 블록체인들은 아직 PoW 방식을 택하고 있다. 작년 12월 이더리움은 PoS로의 전환을 꾀하고 있다고 발표했다.

- 안전성: 블록체인이 해킹에서 완전히 자유로운 기술은 아니므로 NFT 위조·변조의 위험이 아예 없다고 할 수는 없다. 소규모의 개방형 블록체인을 기반으로 한 NFT들의 경우 더더욱 취약하다.
- 영구성: NFT를 통해 취득한 소유권은 반영구적이라고 볼 수 있겠으나, 소유대상의 ‘원본’이 소실될 우려는 언제든지 존재한다. 온라인 디지털 파일의 경우 특히 그렇다. 최고 입찰가 27억을 넘긴 잭 도르시의 트윗의 경우, 그가 삭제 버튼을 누르거나 트위터가 서비스를 종료하면 ‘작품’의 원본이 하루아침에 사라질 수 있다.
단·장기 전망
적어도 한동안은 NFT 시장에 어마어마한 자본이 밀려들어올 것으로 보인다. 장기적 전망을 논하기엔 아직 정보가 부족하지만, 긍정론자들이 적진 않다. 신규 투기·투자의 장을 열었다는 점과 별개로도 잠재적 적용처가 많은, 실용성이 높은 기술이기에 더더욱 그렇다.

The FX Maverick Sniper Air Rifle has been engineered from the beginning to markedly increase performance when shooting heavier pellets and slugs, while also retaining their celebrated accuracy with traditional ammo.
